2008 FRM EXAM REGISTRATIONS INCREASE BY 36%
2008 FRM Exam Registrations Also Surpass the 2007 Total with More Than a Month Remaining
New York, London, Beijing, September 8, 2008: Registration for the Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) Program, the certification recognized by financial risk professionals and financial institutions worldwide, has reached an all-time high, the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP: www.garp.org) announced today.
Registrations for the 2008 FRM Exam at the close of the Standard Registration period on August 31, 2008, surpassed the August 2007 total of 9,865 registrants by a ground-breaking 36%. GARP reported 13,419 registrants with six weeks remaining before registration for the 2008 FRM Exam ends on October 15, 2008. Total registrations through August surpassed 2007’s total number of FRM registrations of 10,135 by 32%.
“Risk management is in the spotlight in most organizations around the world. Exceptional risk management skills in staff are critical. Having professionals who are able to objectively demonstrate competence in financial risk management concepts, standards and practices is becoming a universal requirement” said Richard Apostolik, GARP President and CEO. “Organizations and financial risk professionals alike look upon the FRM Program as the benchmark that must be met by those who want to practice in this profession.”
The growth of the FRM Program has been dramatic both in terms of registrations and global acceptance since its inception in 1997. The FRM Program experienced a compounded annual growth rate of 23% over the last 6 years, higher than any other financial certification program in any 6-year period in history. A total of 2,483 organizations, including 26% of the Fortune Global 500 companies, from over 135 countries around the globe were represented by the 10,135 FRM candidates in 2007.
Candidates may continue to register for the 2008 FRM Exam until October 15, 2008. The exam is scheduled to be given on November 15, 2008 in over 77 exam sites across 6 continents. For additional information about the FRM Program and registration for the exam, please visit: www.garp.com/frmexam.
